Custom Pet Portraits

I make custom pet portraits featuring pets and other animals—cat paintings, dog paintings, mice, guinea pigs, rabbits—these are just a few animal paintings I can do up as custom orders.
Details for Commission Work
I work in a whimsical folk style, so if you are looking for a fun and unique piece, you have come to the right place (please note I do not do realistic portraits!). I usually work from 2—3 photos supplied by the client. I always enjoy adding fun details—I can include dancing mice or ducks or other fun pet companions, a pet’s favourite place, toys, or other objects, and the colour scheme of your choice. I would love to hear about your pet’s routine, habits, and quirks—these details add to the whimsy and unique nature of each custom painting!
Timeline & Feedback
I work closely with the client, and first sketches are usually completed within 1—2 weeks of receiving the photos. I send regular updates, including digital photos of the work in progress, and you are welcome to send feedback at any stage of the project. Before work begins on the final piece I like to fill out a simple contract outlining the work to be completed and the estimated date for completion of the artwork. Most of my custom pet portraits are completed in 4—8 weeks—thought this depends of course on the size and complexity of the project! Please contact me with project details for a more precise quote.
Materials
I work in acrylics on stretched canvas, and each pet portrait is completed using archival quality materials. The canvas is stapled on the back, and the painting is continued around the sides, meaning there is no need to frame unless you really want to—the painting is ready to hang as soon as your package arrives! I finish each animal painting with a clear acrylic varnish, and include a certificate of authenticity, signed and dated by me.

Portraits of People—Retro and Whimsical Folk Paintings
I am also happy to do portraits of people, either retro paintings or whimsical depictions of individuals, families, and friends. I like to add movement to my work, and I often depict people in action, i.e. taking part in a favourite hobby or sport. I also have completed people and pet portrait paintings, featuring individuals and their animal friends!
